A lovingly restored 2/3 bedroom converted barn with an additional galleried sleeping area over the lounge situated in Newton Village. An excellent location for accessing the Gower Peninsula.
Dating back to the thirteenth century, Owen's Barn is believed to be the oldest building in Newton where the celebrated preacher the Rev John Wesley is said to have given sermons whilst waiting for his new church to be finished, and more recently, where Dylan Thomas is said to have played as a small boy. In 2006 Owen's Barn won the Gower Society Design Award for its sympathetic restoration and clever refurbishment.
Situated in the heart of Newton Village, just above Mumbles, making it the perfect location for those wishing to stay within close proximity of Mumbles, but conveniently placed for accessing Gower. There are two pubs serving pub fayre and a convenience store within easy walking distance.
The barn has been converted, and is divided into two separate properties, which have an interconnecting door. The larger property has two bedrooms and a galleried sleeping area and will sleep up to four people, whilst the smaller barn has a galleried double bedroom over the living area, with a bed sofa on the ground floor, and can sleep 2/3 people. The properties are available as a single unit or individually as required.
There are low beams throughout the first floor that help to retain the character of each property but may not suit some guests.
Ground Floor: Hallway with storage cupboard and cloakroom with WC and wash hand basin. Interconnecting door to Ref 164S.
The kitchen/diner has pretty hand-painted fitted cupboards and is equipped with a gas cooker, with grill and separate oven (extractor hood over), dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, freezer and TV/DVD combi, dining table with four chairs. The lounge has a 3-seater sofa, two winged leather armchairs, a footstool, and a TV with Freeview, DVD and CD player. Within this room there is a winding stairwell to a hand crafted galleried mezzanine floor with a full size single/day bed. The lounge has a feature stable door and french windows onto a small private patio with a stone bench, table and four chairs.
First Floor: Upstairs there is a single bedroom and a double bedroom. Both have hand made country style fitted cupboards. There is also a family bathroom with white suite and a shower over bath.
